Prospective UIGEA Online Gambling Regulations Released! 2t4k2u

New Regulations for the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act were released today by the Department of the Treasury and the Federal Reserve Board after missing the 270 day deadline imposed when it was originally ed.

Due to government protocol, which allows for public , these UIGEA regulations will not go into effect until sometime in 2008. The U.S. government is accepting public about the rules starting immediately with the deadline being Dec. 12^th 2007.

After the Dec. 12^th deadline, the government will take up to another 180 days to read all the comments left. Part of the reason for the reading is that they are supposed to adjust the rules according to the public sentiment. Only after this period will the UIGEA go into effect. It has almost been a year since U.S. lawmakers added the UIGEA to the Port Security bill and got it through the Senate.
